James graduated from the Oregon School of Massage in September of 2012 with an Advanced Certification in Sports Massage Therapy.  He has been licensed with the state of Oregon Board of Massage Therapists since November, 2012 and is a Certified Member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).

Being a lifelong athlete, James knows first-hand the importance of effective bodywork and how it can drastically improve sport performance as well as quality of life.  James has participated in soccer, football, American Kenpo Karate, and has trained, coached and competed in No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for nearly 20 years.

The benefits of Sports massage therapy aren't limited to only athletes. While the particulars of the sports massage techniques can be tailored to the athlete's sport of choice, focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements is something everyone can benefit from.
With sports massage becoming more popular due to its usefulness as part of a balanced training regimen, it's equally important to work with a practitioner who is Certified in this modality as, much like differences in medicine, with proper training comes proper application. Sports massage therapy can be used as a means to enhance pre-event preparation and reduce recovery time for maximum performance during training or after an event, and athletes have discovered that specially designed sports massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries and prepares their body and mind for optimal performance.  Unfortunately, if it is practiced without proper knowledge and training, it can cause serious and severe injury.
